Jasmin is happy with her Fair Isle knitting on the Anna sweater using the Fair Isle Sweaters Simplified. She also mentions Annetarsia.  We talk about toothsome yarn by the Bourgeois from Philosopher's Wool, substantial, toothsome yarn is also available from Black Water Abbey, Jill Draper Yarn, and Sheep Spot

Jasmin has worked some more on the Bifrost, and is utterly happy with how it is turning out.

Gigi has been working on the Scandinavian Socks from Little Box of Socks and feels clumsy. Jasmin suggested she borrow the Yarn Guide. She finds that practice improves her technique.

Susan B. Anderson has suggested it on her blog.

Gigi has been making itty bitty pompoms for preemie hats with the itty bitty pompom maker

and she crocheted a flower on one of them out of a Nicky Epstein book.

We talk some more about test knitting. Jasmin noticed that she was wrong. She mentions the lovely hat Emily Straw designed, inspired by Hamilton. It is not on her ravelry page yet. Jasmin wants to knit it out of Lisa Souza's  Deluxe Sock in a continental blue and antique gold. There was excellent discussion on the board with regards to test knitting/sample knitting and pay.

Jasmin got some yarn from from Knitmona had some lovely Halloween self striping

yarns that Jasmin just had to have. The yarn is lovely.  She is going to knit Smooth Operator Socks

they are her purse project now, because even with bicycle clips, the Bifrost is getting too big to stuff in a purse.

Gigi is working on the Polygon blanket, by Tincanknits, out of Black Trillium Fibres, Sublime DK superwash merino Gradient Kits,  in the colors Coral, Tidewater, and Ursa. This is so addictive!

On The Needles:(0:32)

Gigi has exhumed the Scandinavian Socks from the Little Box of Socks by Charlene Schurch. And since she hadn't worked on it in years she was a bit lost as to where she was in the pattern. Jasmin suggested transcribing project notes onto her ravelry project page.  Which Jasmin has done, which will come in very handy when she has to knit a larger size of the Elsa sweater.

Jasmin has picked up  the Anna sweater again. She has been making tracks on the Bifrost scarf

and she is excited about sweater weather coming up, so she can wear it.  Also, she loves how the quilt clips/ bicycle clips hold the scarf neatly together while she is working on it.

Jasmin wants to get projects to the grab and run out the door screaming stage. So she has picked up the Anna cardigan, which  is based on Megknitficent's project out of Ann Budd's Handy Book of Sweater PatternsThe chart is from Anne Podlesak's Legendary Knits book, and it is knitted out of Lisa Souza Supersport.

Gigi has been sewing in ends on preemie hats, making pompoms and attaching them.

Jasmin suggests Operant Conditioning/Positive Reinforcement for weaving in ends.

Mother Knows Best:(15:35)

This week we answer a question out of the "What do you want to hear about? 'thread about etiquette regarding pattern writing and test knitters.

Jasmin likes how thorough the  instructions for the Smooth Operator Socks are, and that there is also a short, printer friendly pattern.

Jasmin mentions Bonne Marie's amazing patterns.

When Knitting Attacks:(26:20)

Gigi kept dropping stitches on her preemie hat.

She also was working on the Copperplate cardigan. She had neglected to take good notes on where she stopped but had different counts on both sides of the front. Fudging it occurred to her, but she dismissed it, because it would be high on her chest, and highly noticeable.

Boston Jen blew both Jasmin and Emily out of the water at Stash Dash. And she sent Jasmin a cowl!

Review:(33:01)

This week we are reviewing Urban Knit Collection, by Kyle Kunnecky

He also did a collection for Halo's of Hope (which we can't find now).

Straw into Gold:(45:16)

Gigi has been fiddling with the brake mechanism on her spinning wheel to get proper uptake using a Woolee Winder.

Jasmin has been making progress on spinning on the Acadia Wheel for her family set of Hiro sweaters.

Jasmin is ecstatic about using the Device! (#006DeviceTour, #MissionQuestionable). Spunky Eclectic may take orders. Jasmin is planning to do a Periscope.  Don't miss it!

And Sew On:(54:31)

Jasmin wanted to work on Grinchalong back on her green Singer 185. but there were technical problems.

Gigi has been sewing a bit on Halloween project bags.

Also, she has been working with a young friend on a dress out of Sew Many Dresses.

The plan is to sew the lining first to make sure the pattern fits before cutting into the linen for the dress.

There comes a time in any story when the arc draws down to the ending. Thus it is with Purlescence Yarns and its story. We began in 2006 with the idea of creating community around beautiful crafting supplies and teaching new skills. We feel that we have achieved that goal. It is now time for us to retire and move on to our next adventure.

On August 28, 2016 we will have our final tea and crafting in the living room. Come and join us if you can, in saying farewell to a piece of our shared history and take a tea cup to remember us.

We have been proud to support the Knitmore Girls since the beginning. We've created community together and supported wonderful things like Halos of Hope and 25,000 Tuques. Keep the magic and keep on crafting.

With love,

Kaye and Sandi Luck

Stash Dash news: Emily and Boston Jen totally won Stash Dash.

Jasmin made progress on her Bifrost Scarf from Infinite Twist, and she is very happy with the autopilot nature of this pattern. She is finding the bicycle clips very useful.

Gigi has attached the sleeves to her Selvedges cardigan.

Jasmin has made progress on the Live Long and Prosper socks. She tells the story of breaking a needle at a Firefly convention and found Unwind in Burbank (closed now, sadly).

Gigi made a swatch out of some beautiful White Birch Fiber Arts  yarn, to see if it would work with one of the patterns from Coffee with C.C.

And she made lots of itty bitty pompoms with the Clover Pompom Maker and sewed them onto preemie hats.

Jasmin is working on the i-cord edging for the Spock sweater and it seems interminable.

Gigi has picked up her Copperplate  #projectsweaterchest,  and needs about an hour of peace and quiet to get to the next step.

Congratulations to all participants in the Ravellenics! Also, we didn't know that trampoline is an Olympic competition.  Gigi mentions The Try Guys.

Contest:(13:54)

Operation Sockdrawer!

Mother Knows Best:(16:50)

This week we answer a question out of the "What do you want to hear about?" thread on the Knitmore Girls forum, about knitting a go-to sweater.

Jasmin reminisces about knitting multiples of the The Incredible, Custom-Fit Neck Down Raglan.

We enthuse about the Ribby-Cardi and the Ribby-Pulli. Gigi remembers doing multiple incarnations of her million dollar dress.

Jasmin has made multiples of the Playful Stripes cardigan and will make one more for Genevieve, and probably one more Little Oak cardigan.

She  likes everything from Alana Dakos and Tin Can Knits. Jasmin is talking about reverse engineering the ribbi cardi to knit it top down. We talk about Cocoknits  and the Katarina cardigan that is has two variations and one is done in one piece. Amy Herzog also suggests knitting a baby sweater to practice technique.

When Knitting Attacks:(27:22)

Gigi has more Knitting Attacks than knitting. Her Selvedges  cardigan has more stitches on one front than the other.

Jasmin's Spock cardigan wouldn't agree to her picking up all the stitches for the edging  at once.

Gigi's Scandinavian socks from The little Box of Socks has a number of issues, too many decreases after the heel, and she didn't keep track of which hand she held which yarn in and this affects color dominance about which Ysolda Teague wrote an article.

Purloined:(32:29)

This week we are purloining Genius and Fail, from the One Bad Mother podcast.

Jasmin mentions mitten clips. Let us know about your Genius moments on this weeks episode thread.

Review:(38:03)

This week we review Enchanted Knits for Dolls, by Nicky Epstein

We mention the Unicorn-Along that we heard about on Yarngasm.

Straw into Gold:(46:50)

Jasmin is still spinning for the Hiro cardigans and is thrilled with the yarn and colors on the Acadia spinning wheel. Jasmin likes the Hiro sweaters that Miliabella, Leslie from the Knit Girllls and Emily from Knitting Butterflies made.

Jasmin briefly talks about stashdash.

She is working on the Gone Astray cardigan for Genevieve, and is working on the sleeves right now.

Gigi excavated her Selvedges cardigan our of her Area 51.

Jasmin is working on her Bifrost scarf, which is a kit from Infinite Twist, and she is thrilled by the

Clasped Weft Join, which is totally worth the $3 that it sells for.

Gigi is working on preemie hats out of Kroy yarn.

She also has balled up some White Birch Fiber Arts yarn, and wants to swatch before she picks a pattern for socks.

Jasmin is working on the Live Long and Prosper socks .

She is talking about whether to make heels out of the yarn itself of using black yarn for heels and toes. And she is mulling over how to use the yarn for its best advantage for a cardigan for Rex.

She is also complaining on how long the i-cord facing is on the  Spock sweater she is knitting for Rex. We talk about picking up all the stitches on a circular needle, before of knitting the i-cord.

Jasmin has finished the dual facings on Carli cardigan. This technique is from the  Big Book of Knitting.

Jasmin gives her concession speech for #stashdash2016 #teamcuteknitter. Now what remains is #emilyversusbostonjen.

Mother Knows Best:(23:41)

This week we answer a question out of the "What do you want to hear about?" thread on the Knitmore Girls forum, about buying used spinning wheels.

When Knitting Attacks:(32:07)

Review:(36:04)

This week we are reviewing  Crochet Therapy, by Betson Corkhill

Straw into Gold:(47:03)

Gigi has been making slow progress on her Tour de Fleece spinning, and has eight nests out of 32 left.

We bought a fleece online. Gigi wanted to try spinning a Tunis sheep fleece. We sent it to Sherri at Morro Fleece Works. She called, because the fleece is tender and breaks. We won't be spinning it, we will contact Beth Smith for a good Tunis fleece.

Customers report that Lo-Lo Lips is one of the best lip balms available. And Sew On:(50:06)
