Jasmin has picked up a sock! A Knitmore Vanilla Sock, with the Cynthia variation, made out of

Asfaltflickan yarn in “Plastic Pony”.

She mentions Sock School. Jasmin mentions Pawley mugs.

 

Gigi is working on a Welcome Blanket, her colors are two shades of purple, and two shades of green.

She cast on a new purple square and finished it, cast on another one.

 

Jasmin has split for the armholes on her Boxy out of Neighborhood Fiber Co’s Studio worsted in the “Parkland” colorway.

Jasmin has started her #ChooseYourOwnAdventureKAL, the Fading Lines by Joji Locatelli.

She is LOVING  Knit Companion.

 

Gigi is working on a new pair of socks in Cadet Blue Vanilla Is The New Black out of Patons Kroy

in Cadet Blue. Gigi is considering swapping the needles out, so she can work on sock rockets instead.

 

Gigi, also has a new preemie hat on the needles in Regia.

Mended small holes in a commercial sweater.  Not decorative mending. Tried using hair for mending.

Another class project: Camp shirt to match plaids.  Had to draft long sleeves. Gigi mentions Hunter

Hammersen and her blog. Gigi mention DMC embroidery floss. Storage bins and art bins.

Together with Genevieve they assembled a pattern  from Made for Mermaids.

Gigi used the industrial blind hemmer in school to sew  the hem of the corduroy skirt.


Tension was off, hem was awful. She read the manual of her domestic machine and did it.


Gigi also tacked A- line skirts at darts and seams, Turned and stitched the hem for Knitmore dress, and used the narrow hem foot to hem the lining.

Last project is a camp shirt with techniques for matching stripes.  

Seersucker is a bear to work with. She will need a seam stick to sew seersucker dresses for Genevieve.

Join Little Skein for our 3rd annual summer knitalong, Sock School. Knit some socks and read a favorite book. Looking at other people knitting Patons Kroy. Lovely colors. Different from what our big box stores carry.

 

Ready for toe decreases on the first sock and almost there on the second one. Waiting for the cardboard footprint of the recipient.

Last week We talked  about he amazing dinosaur sweaters from Nicky Epstein.  Didn't find it on ravelry, but found something similar and amazing

Gigi didn’t swatch for the Fantastic Beasts cowl.  Didn’t like the density of the fabric.

Swatched on the piece with smaller needles, so she frogged and started over.

This week we review  Travel Knits For the Family, Volume I by Kate Bostwick

Gigi’s is taking the beginning sewing class at West Valley College. She loves it.

The book they are using is Sewing For the Apparel Industry, by Claire Shaeffer.

Quiz every week, lot of different samples. Turned in skirt, loved the technique for sewing the waist facing. Used the blind hemmer.

Sewed a t shirt, used the cover stitch machine.  Copied the sloper for the A- line skirt.

Last project is a camp shirt with techniques for matching stripes.  

Cut the shirt, thread marked (so efficient!) pocket and button placement

 

New technical term. Plaid refers to stripes that run at a 90 degree angle to the warp.
